Until one day while taking his daily walk, he began to experience pressure in his chest. It was found that his left anterior descending artery was 95% blocked, and a stent was put in. Doctors told him he was "lucky"; had he actually had a heart attack, he would have died instantly. His cholesterol was 259 with LDL at 178 and HDL at 42. His blood pressure was high as well. His cardiologist put him on cholesterol and blood pressure lowering medication and aspirin. He began to try and make better choices as far as his diet was concerned. Don followed up with the cardiologists regularly to try and control his blood pressure and cholesterol.
Once again, Don began to have some chest discomfort and was admitted to the hospital for a catheterization. While we waited for the procedure, we were told by some good friends about the work you are doing and were encouraged to see you as soon as possible.
When we first met you, we were so impressed with the time you spent reviewing Don’s history, listening, and sharing a wealth of information and your years of experience & knowledge in a way that we could understand. We returned home loaded with all the tools we needed to get us started on our journey to regaining health. We thoroughly enjoyed your book, Cholesterol Protection for Life and immediately began to implement the changes you recommended. We have to tell you that we were amazed at the results!
Within 2 weeks, Don lost 12 pounds, and his blood pressure dropped to the point where you suggested that he would no longer need to take his blood pressure medication. In following a plant–based, nutrient rich diet, taking whole food supplements, and continuing to remain physically active, Don’s weight went from 152 down to 132, and he was able to discontinue all of his medication: blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood thinner. Also, his cholesterol went from 221 on medication down to 171 off medication, and his LDL went from 164 down to 103. His blood pressure while taking his medication was generally in the range of the 120’s over 80. Now without medication, his blood pressure averages dropped around 118 over 65; all this in 8 short weeks!
